Tongue Ties/Lip Ties
Infants as well as older patients can benefit from having abnormal frenum attachments fixed.
Lingual Frenectomy (tongue-tied revision) uses a laser to remove that thick tissue that connects the tongue to the floor of the mouth. When a laser is used, there is usually minimal bleeding and sutures may not be required. It may look like your child has an open, diamond shaped wound underneath his/her tongue.
Maxillary Frenectomy (Lip tied revision) uses a laser to remove a bulk tissue from between the two front teeth and under the upper lip. When a laser is used there is usually minimal bleeding and sutures are usually not required. It may look like your child has an open, diamond shaped wound when you lift up his/her lip.
If it is recommended for your child to have one of these procedures performed, the consult as well as the actual treatment will be executed at Bloomington Pediatric Dentistry.
